Amethyst: The Most Versatile Colored Gemstone You Could Find

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

There’s a reason why Amethyst is one of the most popular crystals out there. A symbol of inner strength and personal empowerment, the February birthstone is an enchanting piece to add to your collection. I, for one, was quickly drawn to it when I was first learning about gems and crystals.

I mean, who wouldn’t be attracted to it?

The range of hues from deep purple to light lilac is just so regal. It’s no wonder that kings and royals have admired this fascinating gem for centuries. Looking at it, you would see how elegant and solid this gem would look paired with white, yellow, or even rose gold. As a jeweler, working on these vivid gems never fails to excite me because the possibilities are simply endless!

But….

Did you know that Amethysts are more than just colorful accessories?

For the longest time, gems and crystals have been associated with energies that are believed to direct and amplify one’s energy towards a particular goal or intention. Sounds confusing? Let me give you an example. If you seek holistic wellness, putting an Amethyst close to your body is said to bring forth balance in your mind, body, and spirit.

This is also true when dealing with anxiety. It is said that simply holding an Amethyst tumbling stone or sitting close to an Amethyst geode can ease up your muscles, help you relax, and feel more peaceful.

Here’s a fun fact:

After the Paris incident where Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint, the famous actress and influencer resorted to Amethysts to help process her trauma. In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, she said that even now, she still keeps these gems around her home to promote stress relief and foster a sense of calm and serenity.

But you know what? To be perfectly honest…

I fell in love with Amethysts because of their versatility. They are easy to wear, instantly elevating even the plainest ensemble. Here are my favorite ways of wearing them:

  • Pair them with diamonds, or if wearing an amethyst ring, you can pair them with your eternity diamond rings for that extra elegant feel.

  • Pair them with contrasting palettes such as vibrant yellows, solid beige, and pastel shades. I tell you, this will surely bring attention to your bling!

  • For night-outs, you can pair your amethysts with your little black dress and your favorite red lippies.

  • Lastly, for a clean, simple, yet elegant style, wear your Amethysts with a crisp white button shirt and a perfectly hugging pair of denim jeans.

Now, do you see why Amethysts have been adored for centuries? They are ridiculously appealing from royals to celebrities or even jewel enthusiasts because of their holistic benefits and remarkably fine aesthetics.
