HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER?
I bought my first DSLR camera in 2010 as a hobby. I started doing it professionally about three and a half years ago.
WHAT SPARKED YOUR CAREER IN PHOTOGRAPHY?
Before photography, my background was in technology sales and account management. Photography was never meant to be a career—it turned out this way by accident! After having my first child and moving to Arizona, I left the corporate world. When my second child turned two years old, I decided to get into photography to keep busy, but it quickly turned into a passion. Today, I still don’t consider it as a career as much as a passion, because I mainly shoot what I love.
WHAT OBSTACLES HAVE YOU HAD TO OVERCOME AND HOW?
There will always be obstacles in life. In photography, I’ve found myself feeling overwhelmed with the idea that my work isn’t good enough, or that no matter how hard I try to keep up I’ll never be on the right level. I guess this can apply to anyone in any industry. Let’s face it—we’re all human and these feelings are natural! But I know I have what it takes to overcome these obstacles. I push myself every day to keep going and never look back. Finding my passion and growing with it is what keeps me moving forward.
WHAT KEEPS YOU FEELING INSPIRED AND CREATIVE?
A lot of people inspire me but the one thing that inspires me most is nature. Almost every idea starts with a unique location, the lighting, and the surrounding elements. This is why I am constantly exploring new locations and searching for hidden gems. It’s what keeps my work fresh. When I scout, it allows me to envision what I want to create next.
WHAT DO YOU FEEL SETS YOU APART FROM OTHERS IN THE INDUSTRY?
I utilize natural light to create creamy, pastel color film and digital work. My style is soft and ethereal while maintaining consistency in colors. My goal is to ensure every client’s session is as unique as the last and I do this by carefully considering the details, styling and location.
